Jonathan Green Lawn Weed Control contains Trimec®, a herbicide that suppresses broadleaf weeds when they are actively growing. Lawn Weed Control kills hard to control weeds such as dandelions, clover, henbit, oxalis, wild onion, and over 200 other weeds. For optimal results spread this product on a moist lawn so the weed control granules stick to the plant leaves.
Use Lawn Weed Control on all types of cool- and warm-season grasses, when you want to kill weeds but have no intention of seeding or fertilizing. For particularly difficult weeds, make a second application of Lawn Weed Control 30 days after the first application. Note: This product will not kill crabgrass, which is a grassy, not broadleaf weed.
When to Apply:
- Apply in spring, summer, or fall, when the weeds are young and actively growing.
- Spread in calm weather when rain is not predicted for the next 24 hours to help ensure that wind or rain does not blow or wash pesticide off the treatment area.
Apply:
- Mow the lawn 1 to 2 days before spreading the product.
- For best results, spread in the early morning when there is dew on the lawn. If the grass is not moist, lightly water to allow the granules to adhere to the surface of the weeds.
- Use a rotary or drop lawn spreader to uniformly apply. To select the proper setting see the Spreader Settings section in the accordion below.
- Lawn Weed Control should only be spread where weeds are visibly present since it is a post-emergent and not a pre-emergent weed control.
- To protect the environment, do not allow pesticides to enter or runoff into storm drains, drainage ditches, gutters, or surface waters.
Post-Application:
- To avoid staining and prevent runoff, sweep any excess weed control granules off of hard surfaces and onto the lawn.
- Do not seed the lawn for 30 days after application.
Coverage:
- 10 lb Bag – 5,000 sq. ft.
- 30 lb Bag – 15,000 sq. ft.
Controls: Over 200 weeds like dandelion, chickweed, white clover, oxalis
Active Ingredient: 2,4D, MCPP, Dicamba (Trimec®)
Can Be Used When Seeding: No; Must wait 30 days to seed post-application
Apply to Dry or Damp Lawn: Damp
Safe for Children & Pets: No
Application Temperature Range: 50° – 85°F
When to Use: Spring, summer, or early fall
The spreader settings listed are approximate. Spreader condition, rate of walk, and humidity are just some of the variables that can affect the rate of application. Please refer to the product label link on this page, or the back of the bag, for further details along with application rates and precautionary statements. You may need to adjust settings for proper coverage if circumstances described on the label are applicable. In all cases, the user should read and follow label instructions before applying any product, and assumes all responsibility when using this spreader settings tool.

I wet my lawn before applying this and I began noticing results in 5 days! Amazing product, as are all the JG products. My lawn has never looked better.
It works but u have to be patient. I applied it to kill broadleaf weeds. It took about 3-4 weeks. Now I am seeing the weeds dying. You must follow the instructions.
Followed the directions, applied when the grass was wet with no rain for 4 days. Nothing turned yellow and died and I still have clover growing in many areas as well as other weeds.
JG Response: Please email us through our FAQ section for help. It is absorbed by the leaves and into the roots where it kills from the roots up. It can take 2 – 4 weeks to see complete kill. If it has been less than that, give it more time.
Bought two bags of Lawn Weed Control and applied according to bag’s instructions. A very few weeds turned yellow for a couple of days, but didn’t die. All the other weeds continued growing without this product having ANY AFFECT ON THEM. It was a complete waste of my time and money. After this monumental failure to perform as advertised, I looked at the bag for a warranty and found that JG specifically disclaims the product will perform as advertised and denies there is a warranty (unless your state of residence prohibits them from limiting a warranty). This information is printed in such small print it’s almost impossible to read it in the store before purchasing. At least with Scott’s products the purchaser receives a warranty. Rest assured I won’t be using any JG products in the future!

By far the best lawn Fertilizers on the market. Added epson salt to help with the Ph in the soil
I have always had good luck with Jon Green products. Not as well known as Scott’s but a little cheaper and works better. This product got rid of a large clover infestation in my lawn this year.
worked very well
This cost more than the previous brand we used that was purchased at home depot, but it works so much better. Finally I have a lawn I can be proud of. This takes awhile to work, but it does work well. Just give it some time. I would recommend highly! I will be purchasing more for my back yard. Great stuff!
works great!
this works very well! Id recomend it to anyone! I used it on a huge front lawn and all the weed rottened away and it also rottened away those pesky clovers and now they dont grow at all. This all happened in about 2 to 3 weeks.
Exactly what was expected.
I have a large lawn and before investing in a large quantity, I decided to try this product on a small portion in my front lawn where I could compare the results to the two adjacent neighbors lawns. I was able to spread this product just before a 3 day gentle rain, so the timing was perfect. Now after about 2 weeks, my lawn has taken on a very lovely deep green and the weeds are withering. I will be purchasing more for my back yard.
Great product alternative for weeds
Jonathan Green Lawn Weed Control is the best weed killer product I ever used. I tried weed killers from local hardware stores over the years with no success the weeds thrived and continued to spread. I followed the instruction on the bag of Jonathan Green Lawn Weed Control and in days I saw the weeds starting to turn colors, dry up, become brittle, and die. I took a photo last year April 16th 2014 with the weeds in full swing after spraying them with a popular brand weed killer. I am waiting for April 16th 2015 same day, same hour to take photo of same area to show the difference. The first photo with weeds was taken last year 2014. I will upload an after photo next month. Jonathan Green Lawn Weed Control is what you need to kill for sure those troublesome weeds.
UPDATE: Today is April 16 2015 I uploaded the after photo of my backyard showing the difference applying Jonathan Green Lawn Weed Control makes. Each year when the weeds start to appear I will apply Jonathan Green Lawn Weed Control that I know works.
I like Jonathan products. Their grass seed is great. I use it as a filler to flush out my lawns in the Summer. I live in New Mexico and I am not sure what kind of grass the people that built the house used but it’s horrible. So I use their see to flush it out an then I use this product to help control the broad leaf weeds that always seem to show up no matter what you do.
I wish they made a product to kill the SandBurs that we have in gazillions here in New Mexico, but at least I have a reliable product that helps fertilize and control one genus of weeds to make the grass look better.
Great product and can be mixed in with other material for the lawn
I couldn’t be happier with Jonathan Green lawn products in general and this weedkiller is no exception. Three years ago when I began using this weedkiller my lawn was covered in weeds, it has since made my grass look like carpet. Now that’s not to say that I don’t still have weeds, because I do, but they’re few and far between. It’s impossible to completely rid your lawn of weeds because they blow on to your property from your neighbors and are just part of nature, but so long as I continue to use this every summer, I’m sure I’ll be able to maintain a relatively weak free lawn and that’s every mans dream come true 🙂 I would highly reccomend this product to anyone looking to solve their weed problem, it even kills clover and that stuff is very hard to kill. It’s important that you apply this after your lawn has been cut and preferably in the morning when the lawn is still damp from the morning dew so that the weed killer attaches to the weeds. if you’re not going to do it in the morning and take advantage of the dew then lightly sprinkle the lawn with water. You need to make sure that there is no chance of rain for 48 hours after applying the weed killer. After waiting 48 hour water your lawn thoroughly so that the granules dissolved completely. The first summer I applied this I used 50% more weed killer because my weed problem was so bad the second year 25% more and this year I applied it at the normal rate because my weed were practically nonexistent at this point and so it’s more of a maintenance application then anything.
